3 Questions to Change Your Career

By the time I was 26, I had worked as a tennis coach, receptionist, a waitress for about 2 weeks (I dropped the 3rd piled high roast beef sandwiches on the floor just before they were served to 3 women expecting a nice lunch, but ended up feeling sorry for me), internet marketing consultant, online sales, and was doing online marketing for a mobile company.

I had 6 different jobs in the first 4 years of my “adult life.”

It wasn’t until I was sitting in a meeting and my boss at the time called me out on my “mistakes” that something clicked! I felt a jolt in my stomach that said, “this isn’t right.” In that moment it became clear to me that I wasn’t listening to myself. These so-called failures had nothing to with my ability and everything to do with me not doing what I was meant to do.

I knew deep down inside what I really wanted to do, I wanted to be a Life & Career Coach. But I thought “One day in the future when I’m 45, married and have kids, I’ll work from home and start my own business.”

This was the story I was telling myself. I was putting off what I really wanted to do

That jolt hit me so hard that I knew I couldn’t ignore my truth anymore. It was that moment that I decided to follow my heart and never look back.

I took the steps.

I enrolled into NYU’s Coaching Certification program, quit my job and started working for a coach. You see, when I made that choice, things started to fall into place. Just a year after the program, I started my own coaching practice. I put one foot in front of the other.

I’m going to be honest here, it wasn’t always easy. It definitely took some sweat and tears, but the only way to get to the other side is through it.

Now, 6 years later, from that day I made the choice, I am so happy I did.

I want to share this story with you because if you are undecided about what direction you want to go, it might be because you’re not listening to your true desire.

I believe the answers are within us and in order to live the life we imagined, we must be willing to listen to our inner voice.

As a coach, I help you drown out the noise in your head that is full of fear and doubt “shoulds” “if only” “someday when” and direct you to go confidently in the direction of your desires.

Ask yourself these 3 questions:

If I had all the money in the world but I had to work, what would I do?

What do I really want to do with my life?

If I had no fear what would I do?

Take action.

Top 3 Ways to Love Yourself This Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day!!

On Valentine’s Day, it’s so easy to get caught up in fear-based thinking. If you are single, you can get down on yourself for not being in a relationship and you start thinking that you aren’t good enough. No good! And if you are in a relationship, it’s easy to focus on the things that are wrong in the relationship because you put way too much pressure on your love to give you everything you need. Also no good!

Well, this year, I want you to think about how you can love yourself up. When you love yourself first, you are able to love that much more in your relationship, connect with others on a deeper level, and be more open to attract the love that you desire. The more you love yourself, the more love

Here are our top 3 ways to bring more self-love into your life:
• Treat Yourself To Something Nice. Buy yourself a dozen roses, cook yourself a beautiful meal, get a massage, draw a bath and simmer in some rose-scented bubbles for a few.
• Create a Love Yo’Self List. Make a list of everything you love about yourself. Include it all. You love your butt? Awesome. You love how great a listener you are? Amazing.
• Spend QT (Quality Time) With You. In order to love yourself more, you need to get to know yourself better. Spend some time with just you- journal, meditate, take yourself for a walk, go window shopping. Whatever it is, make a conscious connection with yourself and have fun!

I have seen the miracles that have occurred in my life once I truly started loving myself- my career blossomed, my relationships deepened, and health and happiness became a priority. Because I know the importance of self-love, I am so excited to share with you a webTV series where you will actually be able to see and discover fun ways to show yourself love. My friends Ali Leipzig and Natalie Berthold created The Self-Love Tour at http://www.selflovetour.tv http://www.selflovetour.tv and I know you will just love it because they are showing us how this journey of learning to love yourself can be FUN!

Are You Afraid of Commitment?

Oftentimes, people actually aren’t afraid of commitment. We think that we are, but often times it’s something else. So, we want to remove that label of “fear of commitment” and we want to get to, or uncover, what’s underneath that.

How to Change Your Negative Emotions

Trick or Treat

It’s Halloween. Put on a costume.  Wear a mask.

Pretend to be what you’re really not.  Make believe you are who you wish you could be.

But the real question to ponder is, what disguise do you secretly wear in your daily life?

Psychologist, Robin Reznick, Ph.D., says:  “We sometimes wear masks as our shield-to protect (and conceal) ourselves. Hiding behind our masks gets us through our day, however deceptively, because we conceal what we truly think, feel and want.”

Masks we wear don’t necessarily represent who we are, they just “mask” who we really are.

Our masks help us play different roles in life so that others will view us in more desirable ways – the responsible worker, the confident adult, the great lover, a trusting friend.

Halloween is the night where it’s acceptable to present yourself as someone else. It’s fun (and okay) to wear a mask.

But on an ordinary day, do people see you when they look at you?  Or is your mask perpetually on?

Let’s face it-everyone wears masks. But, cautions Dr. Reznick; “Don’t get too attached to yours.  Reveal who you really are.”

BOO!  It’s Spooky.

But, don’t be scared.  Let others know who you really are. The true you has nothing to fear.

In your everyday life, enjoy being you.

But, on Halloween, enjoy the fun of dressing up and being someone else.

Trick or Treat.

Steve Jobs Quotes

“Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”

“No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.”

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

“And it comes from saying no to 1,000 things to make sure we don’t get on the wrong track or try to do too much. We’re always thinking about new markets we could enter, but it’s only by saying no that you can concentrate on the things that are really important.”

“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful, that’s what matters to me.”

“I’m an optimist in the sense that I believe humans are noble and honorable, and some of them are really smart. I have a very optimistic view of individuals.”

20 Lessons I Learned from Living in New York

It’s been 8 years since I moved to New York.

New York is like the whole world in one place, from little Italy, to Chinatown to the Upper East Side, New York has it all.

I remember my excitement when I moved to the city. I wanted to be a part of it.

For a while, it seemed I was in a relationship with New York. You know, one of those rocky relationships – when it was great, it was great and when it wasn’t it, wasn’t.

Sometimes this city got the best of me. It felt like I would get knocked down and beat up. But somehow, I got back up and got the best of it.

As I changed, my relationship with New York changed too.

8 years later I have a successful business, I found the love of my life and I’m getting married in April, 2012. What more could a 30-year woman ask for?

So, to you New York, I want to say thanks – for all you have challenged me to do, taught me, and for the inspiration I have gotten from all my experiences here.

Some of the lesson’s I’ve learned are:

1.   When you need help, get it.
2.   Never ever give up.
3.   If you want it, go after it.
4.   It’s okay to cry.
5.   If it’s not the right fit, don’t force it.
6.   Most of the time, the only thing getting in your way – is you.
7.   Focus is power, stay focused.
8.   Follow your intuition.
9.   Be grateful for what you have.
10. Sometimes no matter how you spin it, things just don’t make sense. Accept it and move on.
11. Friends come and go.
12. Your habits form your future.
13. See the opportunity.
14. Believe in yourself.
15. Don’t dwell in the past. Be present.
16. Say “No” to what you don’t want.
17. No person, place or thing has power over you unless you allow it.
18. Have a learning mindset.
19. Surround yourself with positive people.
20. Be your own best friend.

It’s been a journey and I’ve met some of the most incredible people –  that’s what it’s all about.

If  you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.

It’s up to you.

Conscious Creation

Conscious creation is the act of making conscious effort to create the life you want. It does go deeper than just changing your life, however. Conscious creation actually refers the very act of creating your own reality.

One of the tenets of conscious creation is that we each have a separate reality that other people cannot know or really understand. And that each of us has the ability to create that reality into anything we want it to be.

Every day when we get out of bed, we set into motion the creation of a certain reality, good or bad. And through conscious, also sometimes called deliberate, creation, we can shift that reality in either a better or worse direction.

At the root of this belief system is the idea of channeling. This can be interpreted two ways. Some use it to mean channeling your own deep-seated ideas and desires, while others see it as channeling other spirits or entities that have some sort of knowledge to impart. Many use it to mean both types of channeling.

Also at the heart of this conscious way of living is the belief that we all create our own reality, even though we don’t realize it. So that when something bad happens to you, it was actually your choice to have that thing happen.

If you suffer serious illness, believers will tell you that you have brought that into your life through choice, whether you know it or not. But that by gaining control of your reality, you can change things and bring what you want into your life, whether it is health, prosperity or overall happiness.

Through the act of deliberate creation, you start each day with a goal. Rather than the goals you might wake up to now like getting the kids to school on time or completing a project at work, you look at the bigger picture. Those will still be part of your goals of course, your daily life must continue. But you will choose different goals that will help define your reality.

The first step in creating your own reality is through your beliefs. Let’s say that right now you believe that most people are selfish and only out to get what they can for themselves without regards to other people. Your belief is creating that reality in your life, so most people in your life will be just this way.

If you shift your belief to one that says that most people are good at heart and want to do the right thing, most people in your life will fit that description. If you believe that you will never get out of debt, you probably never will. But if you wake up each day using conscious creation to believe you will get out of debt, you can make it happen.
