How to Defeat Fear

“Once there was a young warrior. Her teacher told her that she had to do battle with fear. She didn’t want to do that. It seemed too aggressive; it was scary; it seemed unfriendly. But the teacher said she had to do it and gave instructions for the battle.

The day arrived. The student warrior stood on one side, and fear stood on the other. The warrior was feeling very small, and fear was looking big and wrathful. The young warrior roused herself and went toward fear, prostrated three times, and asked, “May I have permission to go into battle with you?”

Fear said, “Thank you for showing me so much respect that you ask permission.”

Then the young warrior said, “How can I defeat you?”

Fear replied, “My weapons are that I talk fast, and I get very close to your face. Then you get completely unnerved, and you do whatever I say. If you don’t do what I tell you, I have no power. You can listen to me, and you can have respect for me. You can even be convinced by me. But if you don’t do what I say, I have no power.”

In that way, the student warrior learned how to defeat fear.”

How to Create Lasting Happiness {Resource

Over the past year, I’ve been contemplating a lot about one thing. Happiness. And not just any ordinary version of the word: Lasting happiness.

What is lasting happiness? How do we achieve it? If the reason behind everything we do is to be happy, then what are we doing wrong?

We are looking for happiness in all the wrong places: our jobs, our relationships, etc. – things outside or ourselves to fulfill an inner sense of lack. Projecting happiness onto things outside of us can often lead us to disappointment, unfulfilled expectations and powerlessness.

In some cases, you might be aware that even when you landed the perfect job, you still were not happy.

Why is this? What’s the solution?

Often, what prevents us from happiness is our negative thoughts. But, with the practice of meditation, you can learn to let go of what holds you back from being your authentically empowered self!

Many of us are becoming more and more conscious beings. A lot of my clients have been asking me about meditation classes and I want to share this resource with you.

If you are in the NYC area, I encourage you to attend a meditation class.

Check out these classes: Click Here

If you don’t live in the NYC area, google “meditation classes + (your area).”

I attend weekly meditation classes in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (where I live). It has given me many additional tools to manage my life better and learn to be happier. From this place of inner happiness my relationships have improved, my business has doubled and overall I am experiencing a greater quality of life.

In addition to classes, the teacher, Geshe Kelsang, has made an eBook available for f.ree download:Click Here

Here’s a really powerful quote from the eBook:

“In recent years our knowledge of modern technology has increased considerably, and as a result we have witnessed remarkable material progress, but there has not been a corresponding increase in human happinessThere is no less suffering in the world today and there are no fewer problems. It could even be said that there are now more problems and greater dangers than ever before. This shows that the cause ofhappiness and the solution to our problems do not lie in knowledge of material things.Happiness and suffering are states of mind, and so their main causes cannot be found outside of the mind. If we want to be truly happy and free from suffering, we must learn how to control our mind.”

Yes, that’s right, it’s in your mind. And guess who has the power to change your mind? YOU.

I spend 10 minutes meditating a day. I set my alarm on my iPhone and sit in my room on the floor; just 10 little minutes tuning into my breath. I invite you to do the same. Every time a thought arises, let it go and bring your attention back to your breath. Make this your daily practice.

My friends and family have noticed a greater sense of peace in me and I wish for you the same. Meditation combined with training our minds are methods that are scientifically proven to createlasting happiness.

Don’t forget to download your free eBook: Click Here

I highly encourage you to use these valuable resources to improve your mind. After all, when you understand your own mind and are able to let go of limiting thoughts, you will be more effective in all areas of your life.

3 Questions to Change Your Career

By the time I was 26, I had worked as a tennis coach, receptionist, a waitress for about 2 weeks (I dropped the 3rd piled high roast beef sandwiches on the floor just before they were served to 3 women expecting a nice lunch, but ended up feeling sorry for me), internet marketing consultant, online sales, and was doing online marketing for a mobile company.

I had 6 different jobs in the first 4 years of my “adult life.”

It wasn’t until I was sitting in a meeting and my boss at the time called me out on my “mistakes” that something clicked! I felt a jolt in my stomach that said, “this isn’t right.” In that moment it became clear to me that I wasn’t listening to myself. These so-called failures had nothing to with my ability and everything to do with me not doing what I was meant to do.

I knew deep down inside what I really wanted to do, I wanted to be a Life & Career Coach. But I thought “One day in the future when I’m 45, married and have kids, I’ll work from home and start my own business.”

This was the story I was telling myself. I was putting off what I really wanted to do

That jolt hit me so hard that I knew I couldn’t ignore my truth anymore. It was that moment that I decided to follow my heart and never look back.

I took the steps.

I enrolled into NYU’s Coaching Certification program, quit my job and started working for a coach. You see, when I made that choice, things started to fall into place. Just a year after the program, I started my own coaching practice. I put one foot in front of the other.

I’m going to be honest here, it wasn’t always easy. It definitely took some sweat and tears, but the only way to get to the other side is through it.

Now, 6 years later, from that day I made the choice, I am so happy I did.

I want to share this story with you because if you are undecided about what direction you want to go, it might be because you’re not listening to your true desire.

I believe the answers are within us and in order to live the life we imagined, we must be willing to listen to our inner voice.

As a coach, I help you drown out the noise in your head that is full of fear and doubt “shoulds” “if only” “someday when” and direct you to go confidently in the direction of your desires.

Ask yourself these 3 questions:

If I had all the money in the world but I had to work, what would I do?

What do I really want to do with my life?

If I had no fear what would I do?

Take action.

Top 3 Ways to Love Yourself This Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day!!

On Valentine’s Day, it’s so easy to get caught up in fear-based thinking. If you are single, you can get down on yourself for not being in a relationship and you start thinking that you aren’t good enough. No good! And if you are in a relationship, it’s easy to focus on the things that are wrong in the relationship because you put way too much pressure on your love to give you everything you need. Also no good!

Well, this year, I want you to think about how you can love yourself up. When you love yourself first, you are able to love that much more in your relationship, connect with others on a deeper level, and be more open to attract the love that you desire. The more you love yourself, the more love

Here are our top 3 ways to bring more self-love into your life:
• Treat Yourself To Something Nice. Buy yourself a dozen roses, cook yourself a beautiful meal, get a massage, draw a bath and simmer in some rose-scented bubbles for a few.
• Create a Love Yo’Self List. Make a list of everything you love about yourself. Include it all. You love your butt? Awesome. You love how great a listener you are? Amazing.
• Spend QT (Quality Time) With You. In order to love yourself more, you need to get to know yourself better. Spend some time with just you- journal, meditate, take yourself for a walk, go window shopping. Whatever it is, make a conscious connection with yourself and have fun!

I have seen the miracles that have occurred in my life once I truly started loving myself- my career blossomed, my relationships deepened, and health and happiness became a priority. Because I know the importance of self-love, I am so excited to share with you a webTV series where you will actually be able to see and discover fun ways to show yourself love. My friends Ali Leipzig and Natalie Berthold created The Self-Love Tour at http://www.selflovetour.tv http://www.selflovetour.tv and I know you will just love it because they are showing us how this journey of learning to love yourself can be FUN!

2013 New Year Resolutions

Within the word Resolution is the word Resolve. Instead of making a long list of what you want, pick what you want to resolve: anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies, ego, etc. Choose to heal one negative emotion at a time. Work on that particular emotion until you feel it’s resolution. You will be more open to receive your desires.

Happy and Healthy New Year!

How to Get Negativity Out of Your Head

Halloween is here and Sandy is gone! I hope all of you are safe and not too haunted – it’s time to celebrate.

Just as we get dressed up on Halloween, we often wear a mask to play different roles in life. We try to shield, protect and hide behind an image or idea – also called a persona. On the one hand, it gets us through the day but on the other, we end up not listening to our true self.

It’s easy to get distracted by the negative voices in your head that sound like Goblins. They reprimand you and convince you you’re small, limited, and can’t achieve your goals. “You’re not good enough” they whisper over your shoulder. “I’m afraid to fail, so I won’t even try.” “If only you had…, then you would be able to.” “I’m not pretty enough..” They are patterns of thoughts that cause you pain, despite your desire to make positive changes.

While you might convince yourself that your Goblins keep you safe by discouraging you from trying new (and potentially hurtful) experiences, they’re doing much more harm than good.

So what do you do? Would you rather listen to your goblins and prove them right? Or do you want the help & tools you need to let them go for good?

Don’t be spooked.

Eckhart Tolle says:

” …Why does the ego play roles?

Because of one unexamined assumption, one fundamental error, one unconscious thought. That thought is: I am not enough.

Other unconscious thoughts follow: I need to play a role in order to get what I need to be fully myself; I need to get more so that I can be more.”

Your mind is playing tricks on you. If you’re ready to grow, you must be open and willing to get to know your mind. Shine the light of consciousness on these negative thoughts and beliefs.

Your Goblin’s are not who you really are!

Learn how to make the distinction between what your Goblin’s tell you from the TRUTH!

As your coach, I will help you be your BEST self!

By asking you questions and challenging your own thought patterns, we will build your confidence, improve your relationships and find fulfillment in your work. You will see positive transformation in your life

Once you get these Goblin’s out of the way, it will help you get crystal clear on your life’s goals. And, the more clarity you have, the faster you will move into action.

If you have been thinking about change but haven’t moved into taking action, then the voice of your Goblin’s got the best of you.

Don’t trick yourself, treat yourself.

You are good enough!

Happy Halloween!

Spice Up Your Life With Tumeric

The Sanskrit word Ayurveda literally translates to mean “the knowledge for long life”. “Life” includes everything we experience: our physical state, relationships, social interactions, financial well-being, etc. As a philosophy, Ayurveda follows the principle that every aspect of our lives affects our well-being; health is wholeness, and wholeness is health.

It makes perfect sense! When we care for our bodies properly, we’re reminded to focus on wellness in every aspect of our lives – psychologically, spiritually, and professionally.

But in this high-speed world of ours, it’s easy to let our health fall by the wayside. Microwave dinners, fast food, and overloads of caffeine can clog up our systems and drain us of valuable energy. But I’ve recently discovered a handy little spice that can kickstart your natural detoxification systems, flush out all the gunk, and enhance your body’s natural wellness!

This bright yellow spice, Turmeric, is used in Chinese and Indian systems of medicine for its antioxidants and health-promoting properties.

Turmeric is packed full of curcumins, which are nifty anti-inflammatory agents that support your immune system, metabolism, skin health, digestion, circulation, natural detox systems & can even  lengthen your life.

I absolutely love the stuff. Here are a few of the benefits of Turmeric:

– It is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent, and can be used on cuts and burns.

– It has been known to reduce the risk of breast cancer, prostate cancer, and melanoma.

– It is a natural liver detoxifier.

– In Chinese medicine, it has been used to treat depression.

– It’s an effective metabolism booster!

Drink it: I’ve tried Tumeric-Elixir, a vegan turmeric-based formula drink with anti-inflammatory properties. It’s absolutely delicious!

Cook with it: On the World’s Healthiest Foods page for turmeric, you’ll find plenty of scrumptious turmeric-based cooking tips and recipes.

Infusing your meals with turmeric won’t just increase your metabolism and aid your digestion – it opens the door to a higher state of wellness throughout your entire life!

So add a little spice to your life with turmeric!
